Julian De La Chica is featuring in the new Anolie Magazine
A Lover of New York City, where he says he finally found his home, Julian De La Chica, also know as the “Vagabundo del Piano”, a Colombian pianist and composer, presents his new album: Irreverence.
By David Healy
His relationship with music began at a young eager age of 5, when he started playing a vintage piano in his native town, Manizales. At 7 he performed his first recital and at 16 successfully toured across some cities of Europe. At 18, De La Chica decided to temporarily abandon his musical ambitions and submit himself into a monastery and devote his time to readings & teachings of asceticism.
He has been described as a genius, quirky, whimsical, irreverent … However with his minimal approach to music, he is believed to be possessed with the gift of music that captivates crowds across the world. He credits much of his influence to composer Philip Glass, among many other talents that have single handedly shaped his musical creativity.
